The Government of West Papua Province optimizes health services in rural areas to anticipate extraordinary events in the area.
The head of the West Papua Provincial Health Office, Otto Parorongan in Manokwari, Friday (14/6), said it was preparing a team for the Healthy West Papua program. Currently they are undergoing physical debriefing.
“Skills debriefing has been carried out and now they are carrying out physical debriefing. We are working with Kodim 1801 Manokwari,” Otto said.
Healthy West Papua Team that has been recruited as many as 56 people. They consist of public health personnel, nurses, midwives, health analysts and other specifications.
“We recruit from health workers who are in West Papua and we prioritize indigenous West Papuans,” he said again.
Otto said that they would be deployed in several rural areas in the Arfak Mountains District, South Manokwari, Kaimana and Tambrauw.
In the Arfak Mountains, continued Parorongan, the Healthy West Papua team will be placed in the Testega Health Center, Didohu, Catubow and Membey. In Tambrauw they will be placed in the Amberbaken and Nimbul health centers.
“For South Manokwari the team will be stationed in Neney. Inland districts bordering Bintuni Bay. While in Kaimana we place them in Yamor District which borders Nabire Regency, Papua and one district which is also quite far in Kaimana, Kiruru,” Otto said.
Kadis explained, this program was implemented through the regional budget to support the Healthy Nusantara program carried out by the Ministry of Health through state-budget funds.
The team recruited in this program will work according to the contract. For the West Papua Health Office initial contract allocated six months.
“Then we will evaluate later, who can continue then they will undergo the following contract period. Those who cannot survive, we will recruit new ones as a substitute,” he said.
