67 Villages in Wondama Bay Held Simultaneous Elections

A total of 67 villages out of a total of 75 villages in Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua, will hold village head elections simultaneously this year.

The selection process will use the procedures as stipulated in Law Number 6 of 2016 concerning Villages. It also refers to Permendagri Number 112 of 2014 concerning Election of Village Heads and Regional Regulations of Teluk Wondama Regency Number 5 of 2017 concerning Procedures for Nominating, Election, Inauguration and Dismissal of Village Heads.

Head of the Village and Community Empowerment Service (PMK) Hendrik Rico Tetelepta, in Wasior on Thursday explained that there were some fundamental changes in the procedures for the selection of village heads now compared to previous periods.

Prospective village heads are between 25 and 54 years old when registering with a minimum education level of junior high school graduates.

“With the age of 25 to 54 years, we hope that the future village head will have a good mindset and ability in managing village funds. We hope that young people advance, so that there can be regeneration. So expectations village chief later more qualified, “said Tetelepta.
