The Provincial Government of West Papua through the local Public Works Agency plans to build a flyover to overcome traffic congestion in the Waena area to Skyland, Jayapura City.
Head of the Papua Province Public Works Agency, Girius One Yoman in Jayapura, said the flyover will be built starting from the front of the Padang Bulan-Abepura-Kotaraja gas station until it is connected to the Hamadi-Skyland ring road.
“The construction of this overpass has been included in the work program of the Papua Province Public Works Agency, where feasibility studies will be conducted in the near future,” he said on Thursday (03/14/2019).
According to Girius, this needs to be done because it is not possible to do road widening in the Abepura area and its surroundings, besides the cost of land acquisition is very expensive so the construction of this overpass is an alternative.
“For that, we will sit together with relevant parties to discuss the study plan to find out the feasibility of the flyover construction plan,” he said.
He explained that he hoped the Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) companies, such as PT. PP (Persero), PT. Waskita Karya and PT Nindya Karya (Persero) can jointly plan and conduct a feasibility study on the flyover construction.
“The existence of this overpass is an effective solution to break down congestion, because, with the increasing volume of vehicles causing a buildup of vehicles in the Abepura region and its surroundings,” he added.
He mentioned that basically this year a feasibility study will be conducted, the budget has been prepared, and it is expected that there will be involvement of state-owned companies.
