The PLTMG Manokwari is Built, Its Capacity is 20 Megawatts

Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) Mobile Power Plant (MPP) in Manokwari with a capacity of 20 megawatts (MW) began to be built in Andai Village, Manokwari Regency, West Papua, Tuesday (12/02/2019)

The construction of the MHP was marked by casting carried out by West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan.

“With this first casting, we will guarantee security in West Papua, more specifically in Manokwari so that the construction can run well and be inaugurated on schedule in the upcoming July 2019,” Dominggus said on Tuesday.

Dominggus said that electricity has become a very vital requirement for the people in West Papua, so that the presence of the PLTMG is expected to be able to supply all the electricity needs of the community.

Dominggus said, in addition to Manokwari, the construction of the MHP has also been carried out in the city of Sorong with a capacity of 50 MW. PLTMG in Sorong will serve electricity supply in Sorong and Sorong Regency.

The PLTMG also supplies electricity to industries related to special economic zones to be built in Sorong.

“After Sorong and Manokwari, we hope that this development will also be carried out in other districts in West Papua. According to data released by PLN, nearly 86 percent of the people in West Papua have been served electricity, both in urban and rural areas, “Dominggus said.

“We expect this percentage in 2020 to reach 100 percent, because many investors want to enter West Papua, but are constrained by electricity problems,” continued Dominggus.

Construction Vice President, Regional Maluku Papua Robert Aprianto Purba said, in addition to Manokwari, PLN is also building a PLTMG in Biak, Timika, Nabire, Sorong, Jayapura, Merauke.

In 2020, PLN will also build PLTMG in Bintuni, Fakfak and Kaimana Regencies.

“What we are building now for Indonesia power is 160 MW in West Papua and in Papua, and there are additions in Jayapura with 40 MW, so this year there will be 200 MW to be completed. For 2020, hopefully there will be an additional 60-100 MW, “Robert said.
