Pertamina: One Price Fuel Pushes West Papua’s Economic Growth

PT Pertamina (Persero) revealed that the one-price fuel oil (BBM) program has boosted the economic growth of communities in disadvantaged, foremost and outermost (3T) provinces of Papua and West Papua. With the BBM One Price program, people are increasingly able to access BBM.

Unit Manager of Communication, Relations and CSR of Pertamina MOR VIII, Brasto Galih Nugroho, in Sorong, Monday (4/2), said that the one-price fuel has encouraged the efficiency of transportation costs, prices of goods, especially basic necessities have declined. So that economic growth in the 3T region of Papua and West Papua province is increasing rapidly.

He said, the one-price BBM program for the community was getting easier to get BBM access. Previous fuel prices ranging from Rp. 10 thousand to Rp. 50 thousand per liter have now declined to Rp. 6,450 for premium and Rp. 5,150 for diesel fuel at gas stations or Pertamina’s official BBM distributor.

According to him, the presence of one price BBM in the Papua and West Papua regions also made the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) actors increasingly developing.

“Various businesses including transportation, trade, home industry, fisheries and agriculture continue to stretch in line with the ease and availability of fuel at affordable prices,” he said.

Pertamina continues to distribute fuel to the 3T region from Sabang to Merauke. Especially in the Papua region through various modes of land, river and sea transportation.

Even in areas that are difficult to reach, he continued, Pertamina is preparing a special aircraft with a capacity of 4,000 liters of ATR fuel to serve the community. “BBM Satu Harga is Pertamina’s commitment to provide equitable energy for all Indonesian people, especially in the 3T region so that the community gets access and ease of affordable energy,” he added.
