The Papua New Guinea government held a meeting with PT PLN (Persero) in the regions of Papua and West Papua (PLNWP2B), to discuss the purchase of electricity of 2 megawatts.
The meeting which took place at one of the hotels in Jayapura City, the capital of Papua Province on Thursday (13/9) discussed the draft cooperation that will be signed by both parties in October 2018.
PLNWP2B Communication Analyst Assistant, Septian Pujianto, said previously the meeting between the Government of Papua New Guinea and PLNWP2B had been conducted several times.
“In addition to discussing the contents of the collaboration, the discussion is also related to the network of technicians, because we only have 20 KV and PNG has 22 KV. This will later be designed through step up travers to increase the voltage to the same that is 22 KV, “said Septian who is known for being friendly.
Septian continued, for sustainability ahead of the signing of this collaboration, the General Manager of PLNWP2B, Ari Dartomo and a number of his technicians visited Port Moresby to plan the network.
“Later after the sale of 2 megawatts, there will be additional additions that will be channeled to Vanimo,” he explained.
At present, the electrical system in Jayapura can be fulfilled with the operation of two Holtekamp PLTMG machines, each with 50 megawatts and a number of hydropower plants, as well as several diesel generators. While the peak load for Jayapura and its surroundings reached 73 megawatts.
