Police Declare Dark Sales of 40 Tons of Fuel in the Sea of ​​Papua

Illegal sales of fuel oil (BBM) that occurred on the tankers were foiled by the Papua Regional Water Police. Four people were arrested in the transaction.

The transaction was carried out in the waters of Jayapura, Papua, Monday, August 27, 2018, at night. Four perpetrators were secured on Karganegara tankers, namely LOK (41), skipper of SPOB Kertanegara, and AR (28), skipper of KM Khairos II; M (26) Senior Officer; and K (40) KKM.

“The theft of BBM was carried out by transferring diesel fuel from the SPOB Kertanegara Ship that was rented by PT Pertamina (Persero) to KM Khairos II (cargo ship) in the middle of the sea when the ship docked,” said Director of the Papua Police Police Commissioner Yulius Bambang accompanied Papua Police Public Relations Head Ahmad M. Kamal on board Kertanegara, Friday (08/31/2018).

Bambang said the price of diesel fuel sold was IDR 40,000 / liter, while the normal price of industrial diesel was IDR 110 thousand / liter. Bambang explained that the two ships were found while conducting a fuel buying and selling transaction on a ship and were refilling diesel fuel from the double bottom tank of the SPOB Kertanegara vessel to the KM Khairos II tank without a valid permit / document. Therefore, arrests were made.

Bambang added that the SPOB Kertanegara ship is a vessel hired by Pertamina to supply BBM to Pertamina Jayapura. While the Khairos II ship is a KM cargo that is anchored in the port of Jayapura. When both of them were docked, it was on this occasion that the transfer of BBM was directly on board.

With the action of ABK SPOB Kertanegara, the suspect is subject to Article 363 and Article 53 letter (d) jo Article 23 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas jo Article 55 paragraph (1) of the KUHP with a maximum imprisonment of 5 years or criminal and fine of a maximum of Rp. 30 billion.

Whereas for suspect R, skipper of KM Khairos Il, was subject to Article 480 and Article 53 letter (d) jo Article 23 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas Article 55 paragraph (1) of the KUHP with a maximum imprisonment of 4 year or a fine of Rp. 30 billion.
