PLN WP2B serves 24 hour electricity at Ayamaru

The management of PT PLN (Persero) Papua and West Papua region (WP2B) is now serving a 24-hour supply of electricity in Ayamaru District, Maybrat District, West Papua, after a previous operation of the electricity system in the area only 12 hours.

General Manager of PLN WP2B, Yohanes Sukrislismono, in Jayapura on Saturday explained that this step is one of the realization of the program of Papua Terang 2020 which was carried by his side.

He asserted that PLN will not stop until there, it has committed to increase the electrification ratio in Papua and West Papua, as well as the operational hours of electricity.

“For that reason, in line with the program of Papua Terang 2020, we are targeting Maybrat districts we will graduate 24 hours gradually until 2019, how can Maybrat district power up 24 hours, we will continue to work hard,” he said.

While the Manager of PLN Area Sorong Aep Saepudin said to electrify the Yamaru District for 24 hours, it did extend the network, land acquisition, until the network cleaning.

Now, Ayamaru’s electricity system is supplied from diesel-powered plants with a power capacity of approximately 1.2 MW.

The plant is divided into 2 sources where each plant has a power of 720 kW and 2×250 kW. Meanwhile, the length of medium voltage network (JTM) 78.9 kms and will be expanded from Ayamaru up to Teminabuan skitar 10 km in 2018.

He mentioned that in Maybrat district, out of 24 districts, 11 districts have been enlarged by PLN with 13 other districts will be the target of the Papua Light Program in 2018.

“As for the existing 156 villages, PLN has now successfully replaced 34 villages and will be gradually implemented by melistriki 59 villages in 2018 and 53 villages in 2019,” Saepudin said. (*)
